Obituary of Theodora M. Hunkeler, 88 (Fickeisen)

Theodora M. Hunkeler (Tedi) of Duxbury, a retired Registered Nurse and mother of six, passed away on February 1, 2021 from Covid-19. She was the beloved widow of Francis J. Hunkeler who died just two weeks before Tedi.  Surviving children are Peter J. Hunkeler of Sutton, Diane M. Rodriguez of Milton, Steven T. Hunkeler of Marshfield, Sharon P. Nasser of Halifax, Janet L.Valair of Hanover and Judith A. Hunkeler of Milton.

Tedi was born in Boston, MA on July 28, 1932. She graduated from the Faulkner Hospital as a Registered Nurse.  She married Frank, an officer in the U.S. Navy and traveled with him to California, Florida, Massachusetts, and Michigan while raising six children.  After a 25 year career at the MiltonHospital, she retired with Frank to Duxbury, MA, enjoying their home and the beach with their familyfor 25 years.

This amazing woman is also survived by Peter’s wife, Kimberly Hunkeler, Diane’s husband, Carlos Rodriguez, Steven’s wife, Lourdes Hunkeler, Sharon’s husband, Mohamed Nasser, and Janet’s husband, William Valair, along with 15 grandchildren and one great grandson.

She will be remembered as an adoring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who set a powerful example of how to love and live. There will be a private service at the Shepherd Funeral Home followed by interment at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
