Obituary of Lawrence M. Glass
Lawrence Michael (Larry) Glass, age 72, of Carver Massachusetts, passed away on December 14, 2020 from COVID-19 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.
Funeral service will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Carver, MA on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 10:30am with Rev. Albert Whitaker officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and state restrictions only limited invited family & friends can attend. Burial will follow at 12:30pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA. There are no restrictions at the cemetery so all are welcome to attend.
Larry was born and raised in Boston to Arthur & Clara Glass on May 23, 1948. He attended English High School and graduated in 1967. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology from 1967-1969. Larry was inducted into the U.S. Army and served time in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. After returning home from the war, over the years Larry worked as a surveyor in construction, a truck driver for different companies and a UPS driver for many years. Larry was also a member of the Army Reserve for 25 years and retired in 2008. He was also an active member and honor guard at VFW Post 1822 in Plymouth. Larry loved tinkering with cars and kept a garage full of tools to accomplish any repair job. His other lifetime hobby was fishing. Anytime there was opportunity he’d start out early with his friends or family and head out to a local pier or on a boat to enjoy a relaxing day of fishing. Most times he was lucky enough to bring home a good catch.
Larry is survived by his fiancée Cheryl Jefferson of Carver, MA. He is also survived by his siblings Gregory Glass Sr. and his wife Gwendolyn Glass of Brockton, Paul Glass and his husband Charles D. Evans of Falmouth on Cape Cod, Joyce Milligan and her husband Christopher Milligan of Fall River and David Glass, Sr. and his wife Avril Glass of Randolph. He’s also survived by his godson and nephew David Glass, Jr. as well as other nieces & nephews, Dianna, Justin, Leah, Greg Jr. Stacey, Antoine, Dana, Damon, Robert, Taneka, Charice, Latoya, Courtney and 16 great nieces & nephews. He additionally is survived by his Uncle Gene, Aunt Margie and a host of cousins and extended family members. Larry is predeceased by his parents Arthur & Clara Glass, his daughter Lesley Glass and his brother Arthur Glass, Jr.
