Ronald David Mitchell, 65, died Sunday, December 8, 2019 following a long term illness.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Candace Miller-Mitchell; his son, Christopher Mitchell and his wife, Toni Mitchell; his daughter, Mary-Kate Mitchell and her significant other Brendon McDonough; his daughter, Sarah Wilson and her husband Cliff Wilson; his four grandchildren, William Antonucci, Olivia Mitchell, Natalie Mitchell, and Lincoln Wilson; his two brothers, William Mitchell III and his wife Gaye Mitchell, and Robert Mitchell and his wife Debra Mitchell; his four nieces, and many close cousins and friends.

Born in Springfield and raised in Chicopee, the son of William Morley Mitchell II and Anna Josephine (Melaney) Mitchell, he spent the majority of his life living, working, and raising a family in Carver, MA.

After graduating from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1972, he attended Westfield State University where he met his wife Candace Miller, and graduated in 1976.  Ron and Candy married in 1978 in Plymouth.

Ron became a teacher in the Carver Public School system where he worked as a beloved teacher for  34 years, mostly in middle school.  He was a favorite teacher to his many students, and a favorite co-worker to many.

Mr. Mitchell had a passion for education, and was often an inspiration to others on pushing themselves to becoming a better student and person.  He loved the Lake Champlain area of Vermont, and would often vacation there with his family.  He will be greatly missed for he was loved dearly.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 3-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver.
