Obituary of Peter C. Johnson
Peter Carl Johnson
Peter Carl Johnson, of Kingston, Ma, passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd, surrounded by his loving family, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He had undergone a brief illness. Peter was married to the love of his life, Rhonda Caldwell Johnson, with whom he shared almost 30 years.
Peter was born on April 10th, 1954 to Delphina Joseph Johnson and the late Graham Yates Johnson. He was brought up in Bridgewater, Ma., where he enjoyed a happy and boisterous childhood with three brothers and a sister.
Peter attended Bridgewater public schools and continued on to high school at Bristol County Agricultural High. He followed in his father’s footsteps, studying horticulture and landscaping. He worked for various construction companies before settling into a job with P.A. Landers which he was to hold throughout his lifetime. Peter was a heavy machinery operator and held a Hoisting Engineer License. Over the years at Landers, he drove a 10 wheeler, a tractor trailer, small and large bulldozers and front end loaders. For the last 12 years he operated a 33 ton 980 front end loader. He loved his work and rarely missed a day.
At heart, Peter was a family man. He was so proud of his family. Each of their accomplishments was like his own. He loved to be home with his family or tinkering in his garage. He loved working on engines and his motorcycle was a prized possession. He liked to drive everything. For years he kept a boat on Jones River and enjoyed taking his family out and being on the ocean. Next to his family, his friends were his greatest joy. He cared deeply for them and was always willing to lend a hand where needed. Even as a child, if Peter had a candy bar and you had none, you could be sure you would get half. He will always be remembered as a kind and generous man.
Peter lives on through the love and memories of his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Rhonda Johnson, of Kingston and mother, Del Johnson, of Raynham, he is remembered by his son, Jesse George Johnson, of Kingston; daughter, Beth Johnson Westcott and husband John, of Plainville; son, Peter Carl Johnson, of Rhode Island; daughter, Jennay Arlene Demeyers, of California; brother, Philip Johnson, of Wareham; brother, Bob Johnson and partner Stephanie OLeary, of Middleboro; sister, Carolyn Lynch and husband Michael, of Raynham; and brother, Chris Johnson and wife Debbie, of Raynham. He was the loving grandfather of Feona Rose Johnson, of Plainville. Peter leaves behind several nephews and nieces as well as great nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by many friends.
