Obituary of Frank Finn

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank “Mickey” Finn, aged 95 of Plymouth, formerly of Milton and Brockton, passed away peacefully in his home September 13, 2019. Mr. Finn is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Wanda. His only sibling, Flora Kovac of Canfield, Ohio predeceased him. Mr. Finn at age 18 volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 serving his country proudly in the Pacific.  Frank worked as a bartender at the Quincy Lodge of Elks for more than 25 years where he was said to put a tear in the eyes of Quincys' finest singing Irish ballads nightly. Frank loved sports and took pride in watching his children and grandchildren play. In his younger days he was athletic himself. Returning to Brockton after World War II he was a middleweight boxer training alongside lifelong friend Rocky Marciano. He ran for the Boston Athletic Association in competitive road races and in the Boston Marathon. During the early 1950’s he  played center for the region’s semi pro football club.

Mr. Finn was a devoted dad to his five sons Michael, Stevie, Jimmy, Joey and Chris of Plymouth and Kingston. He cherished his time with his 9 grandchildren Mike, Stephanie, Danny, Jonathan, Kristen, Lindsay, Matthew, Emily, Connor and their moms Jean, Ruth, Donna and his 9 great grandchildren.

There will be a private service at Shepherd Funeral Home in Kingston this Friday followed by a burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 42040 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
