Obituary of Richard F. Quinn Jr.
As many of you know my dad, Richie aka The Counselor aka Papa “The Man The Myth The Legened” has been battling Cancer for the past year. Thank you for all the kind words, support and patience over this time - sometimes you were covering for me and you didnt even know it - Dad passed peacefully in sleep on Monday one week after this 82nd Birthday ~~we celebrated Quinn style with of course a big family breakfast and lots of laughs.
The irony that the Red Sox lost to the Yankees (again) is not lost on me either - the Bronx boy that is my dad never ever wavered his allegiance to NY - except for the Pats - he did like them (I mean the alternative was The Giants or The Jets sooooo- nah - he spent every Sat and Sunday at some Dux event whether it was Football, Basketball or Lacrosse - our home turf was his as well - he traveled near and far to watch the boys play and Bridget Cheer during her time -
He played endless golf, pool and shared the best of times with the wonderful friends he and my mother made at the Pine Hills and his oldest partners in crime from the old neighborhood and River Edge and The Jersey Shore.
Dad passed in he sleep no pain to speak of - an amazing/giving life lived to the fullest right to the end - he never gave up, he never stopped moving and laughing and loving.. His smile was contagious and calming. He in smiling big again with the love of his life - my Mom! We are so proud of the man he is and I am greatful for the example of the man I expect my husband and sons to be... and they are.
