Obituary of Douglas E. Coughlin

Douglas E. Coughlin, age 51 of Middleboro, formerly of Carver and Wareham passed away after a long battle with Cancer on August 5, 2019.  Doug was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in the summer of 2014.  Facing his foe with grace, courage, and dignity, he spent the last 5 ½ years battling this impeccable disease.  

He is survived by his loving mother, Maureen Coughlin of Mattapoisett, MA, his brother Vincent “Chip” Kenney, of Kauai, Hawaii. Preceded by his beloved “Grandma Gen”, Genevieve Coughlin, formerly of Rockland and Carver.  His loving and devoted caretaker “Aunt Colleen”, her husband Brian Silva and close and devoted cousins, David, Nathan, Alex and MaKayla Silva of Carver.  “Aunt Tink”, Kathleen and her husband Bruce Morrison of Chesterfield, Virginia.  “Aunt Arleene ” Gatto of Randolph, MA, and many loving cousins.  

Doug was a very compassionate man who enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many winters skiing and summer days whitewater rafting.  A nature lover, he spent many hours on his boat fishing on ponds, entering Bass Tournaments, and being a proud trophy holder.  He was a lifetime member of The Bass Masters Association.  Doug was an avid and passionate Boston sports fan always displaying his attire of all four Boston sports teams.  A lover of softball where he played many years on The Tradesman Softball Team of Cape Cod.  His heartfelt love of animals would provoke Doug to nurture any animal in need, survived by his cat Dio.  

Doug will be sadly missed and remembered by his close family and friends. 

Memorial Calling hours will be held Thursday Aug. 15th from 5-8 pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home 116 Main St. Carver, MA. Mass will be on Friday Aug. 16th at 11am Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Carver MA.
