Obituary of John A. Kidd

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Anthony Kidd, 85, died peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2019

Born and raised in Boston, the son of Joseph P. Kidd and Nora (Kelley) Kidd, he was a longtime resident of Carver.

In June 1952, Mr Kidd joined the United States Marine Corps as a Infantry Rifleman and served a combat tour in the Korean war. During his time as a Marine he earned the Korean Service Medal w/2, UN Service Medal, China Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After serving in the Korean war he was Honorably discharged holding the rank of Corporal

After serving with the Marine Corps, Mr. Kidd had the opportunity to learn carpentry and purchased a small home on Church street. He had a passion for carpentry which led to him holding the position of  building inspector for the town of Carver. As his knowledge and experience grew he was able to become a Building inspector for the city of Boston.

Mr. Kidd's greatest achievement and greatest source of pride was being a single father raising his twin sons on his own. For many years he worked multiple jobs to provide for them and ensured that they were cared for and loved.

John Kidd had a passion for gardening and flowers and took great pride in his flower gardens. He often had strangers stopping in asking if they could walk thru and photograph his gardens.

John was a beloved father to Johnny A. Kidd and his wife Michele of Carver, and the late Matthew Kidd. Cherished Grandfather to Joey, and Danielle.
