Obituary of Marilyn A. Lanza

It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Lanza (White) announces her passing, on April 2, 2019, at the age of 92 years. She was surrounded by her family. Marilyn was a longtime resident of Beacon Hill in Boston and most recently of Duxbury. Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marilyn Maguire of Duxbury and her husband Thomas along with their children, Laura Hanlon (Joseph) of New York City/Duxbury, Kathleen Harold (Joseph) of Scituate, Brian Maguire (Michelle) of Duxbury, and Elizabeth Nichols (Christopher) of Needham. Marilyn will also be fondly remembered by her 10 great-grandchildren, Kevin, Elizabeth, Maggie, Trevor, Harrison, Matthew, Ashley, Kayla, Marilyn and Grace. She will also be missed by her nephew Kenneth Zanelli (Elizabeth) and her daughter-in-law Ann Lanza as well nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Alfred, and stepsons James Mineri and Leonard Lanza.  

Marilyn and her late husband Alfred were one of the founders of Phillips Drug Store on Charles Street in Boston where Marilyn managed the cosmetic counter for over 50 years. Marilyn was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Joseph Church in Boston. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a love for animals.  

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a mass on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church at 68 William Cardinal O’Connell Way, Boston 02114 with a visitation preceding the mass at 9:00 am. A burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Marilyn can be made to: Little Sisters of the Poor Jeanne Jugan Residence, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143-1595.
