George Maver was my uncle and married to my Aunt Noela, who was my father's sister. They were both great fun to be around, with great senses of humor and I remember spending time with them as a kid and as a young adult. When my Aunt would send a card, Uncle George would always sign with a profile of himself that he drew. I lost touch with him after my Aunt died and was sad to recently came across his obituary. He was so helpful with my Aunt and really was her rock. Rest in Peace Uncle.

He was my art teacher at sewanhaka from 1965-1966. He was terrific and always encouraged me. I ran into him when I was taking adult education there 11 years after and he remembered me and said he still had some of my artwork. I became an award winning artist selling over 100 paintings and still remember how vital he was in my life. Thank you mr. Maver. God bless.

George was the chairman when I took on my first teaching job back in 1985. He was very helpful and fun to work with. His sense of humor and ability to keep it real were two qualities that influenced me in my career. I thank him for his mentor-ship as well as his service to our country.

George was such a wonderful, caring guy who helped us, through his example, how to live a joyous life. We will miss him, his charm and witty stories. With love, Nancy and Jim Crowley

Dear George’s Family,
We got to know George by delivering meals on wheels meals to him. We enjoyed seeing George once a week and spent time talking with him. He told us about his time spent in WWII. He even gave us Christmas cards that he would draw. Rest In Peace our friend.

YOUNG AND OLD
Charles Kingsley
When all the world is young, lad,
And all the trees are green;
And every goose a swan, lad,
And every lass a queen;
Then hey for boot and horse, lad,
And round the world away!
Young blood must have its course, lad,
And every dog his day.
When all the world is old, lad,
And all the trees are brown;
And all the sport is stale, lad,
And all the wheels run down;
Creep home, and take your place there,
The spent and maimed among;
God grant you find one face there,
You loved when all was young
