Robert Emory Merry Sr., of Duxbury, born on January 12, 1929, passed away on February 20, 2019 at his home at the age of 90. He was the husband of the late Mary L. Merry of Duxbury; loving father of Robert E. Merry Jr of Duxbury, Deborah Garza of Kingston, and Sheenah Deyo of Salem, NH; Grandfather of Kristen, Robert, Emily and Jacob. He was a dedicated member of the U.S Army and proudly served as a Corporal in B Company, 685th Battalion, 8th Army during the post occupation of World War II and throughout the Korean War.

With Bob’s family and friends beside him, he led a long, adventurous life until the very end. Bob displayed nothing but strength, positivity and determination to live his very best life; his unwavering “Can Do” attitude remained strong, steadfast and impressive to all those who met him. Throughout his life, he enjoyed the thrill of riding his motorcycle, driving his boat, caring for and flying his personal single engine plane. He loved to travel and enjoyed talking about his adventures to Nantucket, Florida, Hawaii and Puerto Rico with his grandkids. He was dedicated to his professions and truly loved his work at the family-owned Merryland Cranberries.

Uncle Bob, Grandad, Dad, Mr. Merry, “Hercules” – All the names of one vibrant spirit who enjoyed life everyday - Robert E. Merry.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday February 26th at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury at 11 am. Donations can be made to the Fisher House in lieu of flowers. https://www.fisherhouse.org/
