Douglas Barry Smith of Kingston, MA passed away peacefully at his Kingston, MA home on Friday, January 4, 2019. He was born on October 9, 1932 in Boston, MA. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Smith, daughters Dr Sherree (Keith) Smith Williams and Sara (Joel) Ferguson, all of Plymouth, MA. He was the beloved PopPop to Douglas Williams, and Alexis and Avery Ferguson, all of Plymouth. He is also survived by his brother Wayne D Smith, Uncle Ralph Bears, nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased in death by his parents Douglas E and Inez Bears Smith, and sister Janet Hansen. Douglas Barry was an avid reader, cook, baker, and Sudoku puzzle enthusiast. He was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. Douglas Barry and his wife Sandra enjoyed traveling.  They went on five cruises, including one to Alaska and one to Hawaii.  They, along with their two daughters, traveled across country two times. He was a graduate of Thayer Academy and Northeastern University. He served for four years in the US Navy aboard the USS Kimberly and served during the time of the Korean War conflict.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-7 P.M. at the Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main Street Kingston, MA.

An additional visiting hour will be held on Saturday from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with a Service at 11:00AM
