Obituary of Lena M. Westgate

Lena M. (Nardozzi) Westgate died peacefully on December 5, 2018.  She was 103 years old.  She lived in Kingston from 1954 to her passing.  

She was the daughter of Italian immigrants, the youngest of six children.  She was born in Boston and grew up in Stoughton, Massachusetts.  She graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1937.  As a girl and young woman, she loved sports and athletics.  Her calling was the care and nurturing of family members. Her trademark was selflessness.  Beginning as a pre-teen, she cared for and supported her young nieces and nephews.  She raised her three children and provided a home and loving care for her daughter, Linda, for 69 years.  She gave them all her unconditional and unfailing love.  She never wavered nor lost her devotion.  Her stamina and will were obvious to all, even inher final days.  Her strength of character was a gift by example that she passed along to everyone, without pretense.  She asked for nothing but gave everything.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Linda Westgate, of Wrentham, Massachusetts; her son, J. Bradford Westgate and his wife, Betsy (Scheid), of Nashua, New Hampshire; her granddaughter, Sharon (Voght) Carmody, her husband, Thomas and their children, Ryan and Caroline, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; her grandson, Andrew Voght and his wife, Allyson  and his stepdaughter, Isabelle Long, of Kingston, Massachusetts; her granddaughter, Barbara (Westgate) Halevi and her husband, Imry, and their children, Clara and Oliver, of Nashua, New Hampshire; her grandson, Bradford S. Westgate of Alma, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren.  Lena was predeceased by her husband of nearly 65 years, Lawrence B. Westgate, and her daughter, Carol Lee Voght, both late of Kingston.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, December 9, from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston. A Funeral Mass will be held, Monday, December 10, at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston.
