Val E. Pochay, 72, of Carver, formerly of Randolph, passed away on November 7, 2018. Beloved husband of Barbara Pochay. Loving father to James Pochay and his wife Trisha of Marshfield, and Jill Favreau and her husband Stephen of Carver. Cherished grandfather of Nick Pochay and Lexi Pochay, and Emily and Daniel Favreau. Brother to George Pochay of ME, Peggy Pochay of Bridgewater, and Paul Pochay of Bridgewater. Val is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Val Pochay was happily married to his loving wife Barbara Pochay for 48 years. Lucky for him it was the only decision she ever reached where she did not have to say “I’ll have to get back to you on that”. Along with being a loving husband he was also a devoted father and grandfather, but to his grandkids he was and will be forever Papa. Even after completing his honorary military service as a Vietnam Veteran in the Navy he continued to give back and serve upon his return home. He loved helping other veterans with his work at the V.A. hospital where he was employed for over thirty years. In his free time he was a self-proclaimed “gentleman naturalist” who loved everything nature including fishing, bird watching, and especially catching toads with his grandchildren. He was the type of man who would do anything and everything for his friends and family, even if it meant pretending to be a “lawyer”.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 9th from 12-2:00 PM with a service set to begin at 2:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver.
