Obituary of Julia A. Santos

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Julia (July) Ann Santos of Carver, MA, announces her unexpected passing on October 19, 2018, at 86 years young.

July was born in the Brick Yard of Bridgewater, MA, on November 24, 1931 to the late Frank and Anna (Andrade) Almeida. She graduated from Bridgewater High School with the Class of 1949.  She worked as a welder at various plants for the Raytheon Company for many years.  She enjoyed dancing, Cape Verdean music, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family.

July will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Carl (Big John) L. Santos, Sr., and her two children, Julia (Almeida) Peabody, and Carl L. Santos, Jr. and his wife Janice. She will eternally and affectionately be known as Nunny to her 5 grandchildren Richard Pretti and his wife Stacey, Richard Almeida and his longtime partner Jennifer Brady, Ryan Almeida and his wife Melissa, Robin Almeida and her partner William Andrews, Crystal Santos-Steiblin and her husband John Steiblin, and 9 great grandchildren Alexandria, Elizabeth, Ryan Jr., Rachel, Ethan, Kayleigh, Andrew, Jayden, and Jack.  She will be deeply missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind her two sisters Vicincia (Almeida) Andrade and her husband George and Lydia (Almeida) Cross and her late husband Arthur. She also leaves behind her in laws Barbara Santos wife of the late Mitchell Santos, Jerome Santos, Darrell Silvia and his wife Joan. She is predeceased by siblings Manuel (Stumpy) Almeida, Pauline Almeida, Mary P. Gomes, Frank (Junior) Almeida, Nicholas Almeida, and Lorraine Amado-Teixeira. She is also predeceased by her sisters in law Margaret Monterio and Mary Almeida.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday October 27, 2018 at the Shepherd Funeral Home 116 Main St. Carver, MA.  Burial will immediately follow at Plymouth County Cemetery, 173 South Meadow Rd, Plymouth, MA.  The family would like to invite all to join them at the Middleboro Council Of Aging, 558 Plymouth St., Middleboro, MA for a Celebration of Life at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Carver Firefighters Association.
