Obituary of Irene J. (Nisby) Umbrianna

Irene J. (Nisby) Umbrianna passed away suddenly, after an amazing display of strength and courage, on August27, 2018. Irene grew up in Abington and was one of eight daughters to the late Catherine A. (Johnston) Nisby and Joseph Nisby. She was a Duxbury resident for more than 15 years, raising her children there and ultimately considered Duxbury her home. Irene loved summering at her father's beach house in Green Harbor, going for walks with friends, but most importantly, her family was her world. Devoted mother to her children, Jenna Umbrianna Gino of Scituate, Rachael Umbrianna of Brockton, Peter Umbrianna of Braintree and Anthony Umbrianna of Brockton. The adored and cherished grandmother "Renie" of Akoura Simone Gino. Loving sister of Patricia Napp and her husband Donald of Plymouth, Kathleen Stocker of Dover, NH, Anne Marie Forbush and her husband William of Bridgewater, Theresa Nisby and her husband Michael Collins of Abington, Mary Nisby of Abington, Brenda Finnerty and her husband Thomas of Foxboro, and Julie Barry and her husband Thomas of Kingston. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 30, from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home,  7 Mattakeesett Street, Pembroke Center. Family & friends may gather at the Funeral Home on Friday August 31 at 9 a.m.to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
