Obituary of George Paul Tosca
Sadly, George P. Tosca passed away from our lives, Sunday August 12th after a brief illness. George was born in Brockton, MA, however lived most of his life in Duxbury, MA with his beloved wife Rebecca (Phillips) Tosca, daughter Rebecca Metters, son Matthew Tosca, son Gregory Tosca and daughter Heather “Hollywood” Tosca.
George was born to parents George Tosca Sr. and Eleanor (Bourne) Tosca on August 22, 1944. He grew up in Brockton with his brother, Robert Tosca and sister, Patricia (Tosca)McAnneny. He attended Plymouth State University until such time he was drafted into the Army to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He later began a career at Shaw’s Supermarkets as a Manager of the Seafood and Bakery Departments where he spent most of his time until retirement in 2011.
George was an avid sports fan rooting for his beloved Patriots while wearing his #55 Willie McGinest jersey. His favorite pastime was fishing with his brother and children. In addition, he enjoyed kayaking, gardening and spending time with his family as well as his best friend Oreo. He was known as “The Biggest Jokester” constantly providing laughter to those around him.
He loved the ocean too, and although he was born in a land locked city, he always had salt water in he veins!
George leaves behind a wife Rebecca (Phillips) Tosca, a daughter Rebecca Metters and son-in-law Cory Metters, a son Matthew Tosca and daughter-in-law Jen Tosca, a son Gregory Tosca and daughter-in-law Lindsie Tosca, a daughter Heather Tosca, a brother Robert Tosca and sister-in-law Diane Tosca, the late Patricia McAnneny and 9 grandchildren namely Brian Sylvia, Matt Tosca, Eric Tosca, Jason Metters, Noah Metters, Dylan Metters, Henry Metters, Arilyn Tosca and Kaylie Tosca. In addition, he leaves behind extended family and several longtime friends.
George will “Always leave the light on for you!”
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 16th from 5-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17th at 11:00 AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Disabled American Veterans
Following the services, all are welcome to attend a reception at Disch's Tavern, 615 Washington St, Pembroke.
