Obituary of Richard A Meyer

Richard Alan Meyer, known lovingly by family and friends as “Dick” passed away at his home in Pembroke on Friday, August 10th, one day short of his 70th birthday after a long battle with cancer.

Dick was born to parents Robert and Florence Meyer on August 11th 1948.  He grew up in Braintree and acquired his MBA from Suffolk in Boston.  Working most of his early career in accounting in Boston, and later south of Boston in Weymouth and Norwell in the medical auditing profession. 

A devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished friend to so many, Dick will be remembered for touching so many people’s lives in various ways.  Always putting others before himself, and consistently acknowledging the best in every person he came in contact with.  He loved being outdoors at home, his convertible, and spending time with family and friends.

Dick leaves behind a wife Marijane (Venti) Meyer, a son Matthew J. Meyer, a daughter Janelle (Meyer) Veiga, his brother Robert Meyer, two grandchildren Veronica and Lucas Veiga, and lots of extended family that he loved like his own.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 16th from 4 to 8pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street, Pembroke MA 02359.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17th at 11am at the First Church in Pembroke, 105 Center Street, Pembroke, MA 02359.
