Obituary of patricia J. (Loring) Garrity

Patricia Jane Loring Garrity of Duxbury, born August 23, 1930 to Emily Peterson Loring and Morris Loring passed away June 10, 2018 with the help of Beth Israel Deaconess-Plymouth, Cranberry Hospice and the Newfield House.

Patricia, also known as “Mema,” graduated from Duxbury High School (now the library) in 1948 and after raising six children with William M. Garrity (Bill) graduated from Massasoit in her 40s. A prolific reader of books, Pat became a peace activist during the Vietnam War and loved WGBH (Brooks and Shields). Pat was a member of the Duxbury Historical Society, Jones River Village Historical Society, the Alden Kindred and the Pilgrim Church, Duxbury.

Pat was predeceased by her brothers James and John, and her son Robert Patrick Garritty (Susanne Schaffer). She leaves a brother, Steven Loring and his wife, Carmella D’Amelio Loring, and sons William Michael (Tami Kraft), Thomas Kevin, Jon Morris (Elizabeth Spence), David Bradford, and daughter Jane Richardson, also 15 grandchildren and 18 great children.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23 at the Pilgrim Church, Duxbury.
