JOHNSON, Genevieve M. (Dinsmore) (Ginny), wife of the late Norman E. Johnson formerly of Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Lionel and Gladys Dinsmore, was born on 9 May 1927. Ginny attended schools in Jonesboro Maine until her Senior year when she graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in Cambridge, MA. She joined the U.S Cadet Nurse Corps.  After receiving her R.N., she worked as a nurse in Massachusetts, Michigan, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

Following her husband’s retirement in 1977 they settled in Yarmouth Port, MA. Ginny was always a self-giving, caring, and community-oriented person. On the Cape she was a member and former President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Cape and the Islands, a board member of the Cape Cod and Islands EMS for nearly 20 years, member the Bass River and Bayberry golf courses, and was very active in the Friends of Yarmouth Port Library. 

In addition to her many community interests, her family came first, especially after retirement when she welcomed time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bridge, golf, reading,knitting, and gardening. She was a faithful communicant of the Episcopal church, most recently, St. David's Episcopal Church, Yarmouth, MA.

Ginny  is survived by her daughter Danna Wadsworth, of Pembroke, MA, her son Bruce Johnson and his wife Beverly of Groton, MA., and grandchildren:  Michael Hession and his wife Jennifer, Christopher Hession, Melisa (Wadsworth) Morway and her husband Dennis, Andrew Wadsworth and his wife Kristin, Kathryn Johnson, Kevin Johnson, and dear brother–in-law, Donald Chobanian of Naples, FL. Ginny was predeceased by twin sisters Leta Hileman and Greta Foss and sisters-in-law Shirley Chobanian and Janet Thorpe.  She is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and four young great grandsons, Michael, Caleb, and Matthew Hession and Jakson Wadsworth.In addition to family members and friends, Ginny had many loving and caring caregivers over the past nine years who meant the world to her.

A service of remembrance will be held at Sheperd’s Funeral Home, 216 Main St, Kingston, MA on May 17 at 9:30 AM.  Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 11:30 AM alongside her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ginny’s name to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 98018, Washington, DC 20090-8018 or to the Yarmouth Port Public Library, 297 Main St., Yarmouth Port, MA 02675.
