Obituary of Blanche M. Wood

Blanche M. Wood, of Hyannis, formerly of Pembroke, passed away on September 7, 2011. She was 89 years old. Beloved wife of the late Amos A. Wood Jr. Loving mother of Judith Harlow of FL, Dorothea Francis of SC, Shirley MacLean of Hyannis, Amos "Butch" Wood III of Plympton, Nancy Govoni of SC, Elaine Pacheco of Carver, and Claire Adams of W. Bridgewater. Sister of Freda Pine of WA. Cherished grandmother of 21, also survived by numerous great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Blanche was born in Idaho, and raised in Carson City, NV. She moved to Halifax in 1951, and then to Pembroke for 23 years. She moved to Florida in 1974, before moving back to Cape Cod in 1999. She was a waitress at several restaurants, and enjoyed embroidery, crafts, knitting, crocheting, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 12th from 10:30 - 11:00 AM with a funeral service set to begin at 11:00 AM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St (Rt. 14) Pembroke. Internment will follow at Central cemetery in Halifax. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org
