Marjorie E. (Grant) Cousins, age 88, of Halifax, formerly of Pembroke, died on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth. Born in Rochelle, IL, she was a daughter of the late Glen & Loversa (Small) Grant. She grew up in Bridgeport, IL, and upon graduation she was employed as a secretary for the Army Aircore. In 1948, she moved to Massachusetts and worked at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Boston and later was employed at the Patriot Ledger in Quincy as a compositor until her retirement. Marjorie was a member of the Chief Justice Cushion Chapter of the DAR, Scituate and served as a Regent. She was a member of the East Pembroke Community Club and of the ABC Club. She was active in the West Duxbury United Methodist Church and Saint Paul's of the Nazarene Church in Duxbury. She was an accomplished artist and a published poet. Marjorie played the piano and was a down home cook. Marjorie was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Cousins, Sr.; devoted mother of Karen Hansen of Pembroke, Jamie Schattenburg & her husband Mark of Framingham and Arthur J. Cousins, II of Brockton; loving grandmother of Jeffrey Hansen, Alun Hansen, Todd Hansen, Olivia Rossi, Charlotte Cousins and Lyle Cousins and great-grandmother of Kristin Hansen, Sophie Hansen and William Hansen; dear sister of Dorothy DeJovine of Sun City, AZ and the late Eugene Grant and Glen W. Grant, Jr. Also survived by special friends, Chris and Tiffany Creeger. Calling Hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett Street, Pembroke, on Friday, August 12, 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Services at Saint Paul's Church of the Nazarene, 136 Summer Street, Duxbury, on Saturday, August 13 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. Contributions in Marjorie's memory may be made to the Mulitple Myeloma Research Foundation or to Semper Fi.
