George F. Wager, 85, of Middleboro, formerly of Kingston, passed away July 2 at Golden Living Center, Oak Hill, in Middleboro, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Barbara (Dyer-Whitehead) Wager,and the late Arlene (Malaguti) Born in Kingston, Jan. 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Joan (Salvi) Wager. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during WWII. He retired after a career of thirty years in the US Navy, with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He lived most of his life in Kingston, served on many town committees and was a former President of the Kingston COA, having served two terms. He was Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Kingston Lions Club. He retired as a former employee for the Town of Kingston. In his free time he enjoyed outdoor sports, including golf, skiing and snowmobiles. He traveled the world, and in more recent years, discovered an appreciation for cruising with his wife Barbara. He was an avid Bruins, Red Sox, and New England Patriots fan. He is survived by his stepchildren, Nancy and Richard Caron of Middleboro, Patricia and Paul J. Dias of Hanson, and Donna and Frank Carey of Hanson; his sister, Elaine DeChambeau of Abington, his niece, Michelle DeChambeau of W. Bridgewater, and his nephew Kevin DeChambeau of E. Bridgewater. He is also survived by two grandnephews, Jason Johnson and Matthew DeChambeau, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Isabella, Michael, Olivia, Khloe, Courtley, and Jacob. Visiting hours from the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St., Rt. 106, Kingston, on Thurs. July 7 from 6-8PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 8:00PM. Following a private cremation, burial will be at MA National Cemetery, Bourne .Memorial donations may be made to the Kingston Animal Care Fund, 28 Evergreen St., Kingston, MA 02364. For Kingston Animal Shelter's record keeping, donations should be made in memory of George Wager.
