Obituary of Irving B. Pierce

Irving B. Pierce Jr., devoted husband, loving father and patriot died May 8, 2011. He was born in Boston, June 22, 1920 and raised in Lexington, Mass.
Immediately upon graduation from the Virginia Military Institute in 1942, he shipped overseas for 3 years with the Army Corps of Engineers as an officer supervising construction of hundreds of forward airfields in North Africa, Corsica, Sicily and Italy. At war's end, he married Ann Elizabeth Nelson of Lincoln, Mass. For more than 60 years he was a practicing civil engineer managing commercical construction projects all over the Northeast, including Boston, Chicago, Bermuda and New York. Mr. Pierce's first priority and greatest source of pride were his family including wife of 66 years, Ann, sons John and Richard, two grand daughters and two great grand daughters. The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care Dad received from his doctors and nurses and the kindliness of his Duxbury neighbors. A private service is planned for later in the spring at the family gravesite, Woodland Cemetery in Everett.
