Obituary of John E. McKenna

John E. McKenna 75, of Plympton, formerly of East Bridgewater and Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family following a lengthy battle with prostate cancer.
John was born on May 23, 1935 in Boston. John and his twin brother, the late James E. McKenna, were raised in Halifax by Myra C. Rogers.
John graduated from Whitman High School class of '53 and he remained active with school reunions. John served with the National Guard as a reservist.
John was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia Ann Bernier and loving father of Candice McKenna-Imlach and her husband James of Plympton, Lisa Dishaw and her husband James of Carver, Jason McKenna of W. Bridgewater, and the late Michael A. McKenna. Cherished grandfather of Jamie McKenna, Benjamin McKenna, James Michael Imlach, Zoe McKenna, Luke McKenna, Quentin Dishaw, Mary Dishaw, John Dishaw, and great grandfather of Riley McKenna and Avery McKenna. He is also survived by his daughters in law Paula Korske, and Susan McKenna and many nieces and nephews.
John was a proud member of Teamsters Local 653, having joined in 1957. In addition to working with others, he was self employed with his own trucking company. He enjoyed careers in both local and interstate trucking.
John enjoyed reading, fishing, and was a member of the Upland Sportsman Club. He enjoyed nothing more than being in the company of his family.
Funeral from the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St., Kingston, on Fri. March 25 at 9:00AM, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Kingston, at 10:00AM. Interment in Central Cemetery, Halifax. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8PM. Memorial donations may be made to Cranberry Area Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
