Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louise E. (Tammi) Hamilton, 72, of Kingston, formerly of Peabody and Hanover, Died Sunday of Leukemia five years after beating breast cancer. Mrs. Hamilton was born and raised with three sisters and two brothers in Boston. She attended Dorchester High School for Girls, Boston University as an undergrad on a pre-med scholarship, where she met her husband Jack who passed away in 1993, and Northeastern University for her doctoral work. Mrs. Hamilton taught junior and senior high school, and nursing at several universities. She was most proud of her volunteer expert support of local environmental causes and her career as an environmental toxicologist, during which she was a founding member of the City of Boston's Hazardous Materials Task Force and Response Team. Mrs. Hamilton was an avid tennis player, an interest shared by nearly all her family. Favorite venues included the high school courts in Peabody, Hingham and Rockport, indoor at the Sportsman Tennis Club in Dorchester, and Nancy and Ward Talbot's court behind Long Beach, Rockport, where she also enjoyed cold ocean water with her dogs. She also greatly enjoyed numerous family cruises in the Caribbean. Mrs. Hamilton was a great lover of animals, providing homes to many cats and dogs she rescued from shelters. She took great joy in daily visits to Peabody dog ponds, and in later years to the Bay Road "Dog Park" in Duxbury, where she and her sister June made many tremendous friends, two-legged and four alike. Many a seagull, from Cape Ann to the Caribbean, appreciated her leftovers. She is survived by her two sons, Eric of Millis, and John of Somerville, her sister June of Plymouth and brother Victor of Boston, two grandchildren Rebecca and Zachary, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat. Mar. 5 at the First Congregational Parish, Unitarian Universalist, 222 Main St., Kingston, MA at 10:00AM. Donations in lieu of flowers to your favorite animal charity are welcome
