Lt. John M Buckley, of Duxbury, formerly of S Weymouth, died suddenly at home on November 17, at the age of 46. Beloved husband of 18 years to Cynthia M Buckley (Hirl) and beloved father of Dylan Buckley and Madison Buckley of Duxbury. Loving son of Francis and Joan Buckley (Peers), also survived by brother Donald Buckley of Middleboro and sister Laurie and James Boulter of Pembroke. Son-in-law to Alicia Devlin of E Bridgewater, brother-in-law to James Hirl of Quincy, Joseph and Carole Hirl of Michigan and Denise Hirl of Michigan. Survived by many nieces and nephews, many close friends and his best friend Pepin. John graduated from Weymouth South High School in 1983. He was a resident of Duxbury for the last 18 years. He was a football coach for Duxbury Youth Football for many years and cherished every moment spent with “his boys”. John was a 23 year veteran of the Plymouth County Sheriffs Department. In 2001 he obtained the rank of Lieutenant and became the commanding officer of the Warrant Apprehension Unit. In 2006 John received a special Deputation from the US Marshall Service. Calling hours will be held Monday November 22nd from 4-8 pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main St. (Rte 106) Kingston MA. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home Tuesday November 23rd at 9am with a Mass to follow at 10am at Holy Family Church, Tremont St. Duxbury MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John M Buckley memorial fund for the benefit of his children c/o Rockland Trust 184 Summer Street, Kingston, MA 02364.
