Obituary of Elizabeth Betty A. Carter

Elizabeth Betty A. (Dennett) Carter, 50, of Carver died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a courageous 15-year battle with muscular dystrophy. She was the wife of David E. Carter. Born March 11, 1960, in Weymouth, she was a daughter of the late William J. Dennett and Catherine (Morrisey) Dennett. Raised and educated in Whitman, Betty was a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School, Class of 1978. She worked as a bakery manager for Purity Supreme for many years. Betty enjoyed flower gardening, crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with her family and her two grandchildren. She was an avid New England sports fan. She is survived by her husband, David E. Carter of Carver; her two children, Casey L. Rodgers and her husband Ryan of Wareham and Cory M. Carter of Carver; her grandchildren, Ethan and Ainsley Rodgers, both of Wareham; her siblings, Edmond Dennett of Vermont, John Dennett and his wife Ginny of New Hampshire, Mary Perry and her husband John of Stoughton, Ellen Donovan and her husband William of Hanson and Barbara Capello of Leominster; her brother-in-law, Dave Baker. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles and William Dennett and Catherine Kitty Baker. Betty is also survived by her favorite dog, Pedro. A funeral service will be held in the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Carver, Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Central Cemetery, Carver. Calling hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. Donations may be made in Bettys memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 78960, Phoenix, AZ 85062.
