Obituary of Edna Burke

Edna Burke, 96, of Kingston died Aug. 16 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Terrell and Warren Strassel, where she had lived for the last 8 years. Mrs. Burke was born Nov. 30, 1913 in Youngstown, Ohio to Margaret and Samuel McCain. She married Francis Burke from Clinton, MA on Oct. 30, 1942, in Syracuse, NY. She continued to live in Syracuse until 1950 when the family moved to Clayton, Ohio. In 1955 they moved to Massachusetts. Edna enjoyed many activities, including scrabble which she played until just a few months before her death. She loved to travel and was thrilled to visit Italy, Ireland, France, Holland, and many parts of the United States. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Burke of Richmond, CA; daughter Terrell Strassel and son in law Warren Strassel, of Kingston, sons Daniel and Steven Burke, both of Northampton, MA; sister in law Dora McCain; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her husband Francis, and three siblings, Margaret Belden, Samuel McCain, and Edwin McCain. A Memorial Service will be held on Thurs. Aug. 19 at 11:30 at the Beal House, Main St. Rt. 106, Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to Cranberry Area Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
