Frances Pegnam McCarthy, 85, of Duxbury Massachusetts died peacefully on August 4th 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. McCarthy and the beloved mother of William F. McCarthy and his wife MaryAnn of Duxbury, Richard J. McCarthy and his wife Lorraine of Kingston, Christina M. Doran and her husband Francis of Duxbury, Francis S. McCarthy and his wife Marcia of Venice, Fla, Paul J. McCarthy and his wife Michele of Norwell, Ann McCarthy-Joyce and her husband Paul of Cumberland, RI, and Julie M. Ferguson and her husband John of Sandwich. She was the mother-in-law of the late David A. Keir and the sister-in-law of Edward R. McCarthy of Plymouth and Nancy Pegnam of Carver. Frances was the cherished grandmother of 16 grandchildren including the late William J. McCarthy and was also the great-grandmother of 4 and the aunt of many nieces and nephews. Frances was a graduate of Mount St. Vincent College, NY and began her career as a radio broadcaster at WBET in Brockton. She was an active member of Bay Players Community Theater, a Duxbury Library Trustee and a lector at Holy Family Church. Above all Frances treasured time spent with her children and their families. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 7that 10 am at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury Ma. The McCarthy Family will be welcoming friends and family at 9:30 am at Holy Family Church. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonathon Rizzo Memorial Fund, PO Box 412, Kingston MA, 02364.
