Obituary of Alan I. Dunham

Alan I. Dunham of Carver , passed quietly on to his next project July 19 at 84. Loving husband of Alice (Huxley) Dunham for 42 years. Son of the late Mary M and Roswell B. Dunham of Marion. He will be missed by children Susan A. Dunham Shane and husband Mark, Alan E. Dunham and wife Mary, Philip E. Dunham, and Joyce E Mazalewski and husband Richard. Grandchildren Michael J. Mazalewski, Laueen A. Modder, Timothy M. Dunham, Nathaniel E. Dunham, Christopher A. Dunham, and Alana M. Dunham will remember him fondly as will great grandchildren Kiera and Kelsie Modder. Alan was born and raised in Fairhaven. Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He worked as vice president of Clark Babbitt Foods in Rockland from 1946 to 1972. A resident of Carver since 1957 he served on the School Committee (21 yrs), Planning Board, and many other committees. He worked as Treasurer Collector for 11 years. He was a lifetime member of the Carver Fire Department, lifetime member of American Legion Post 164, and a driving force of the Republican Town Committee. Alan lived his life to its fullest every day and even though he had many medical problems in the last few years never ceased to enjoy what each day brought. Many smiles and stories and recipes will be his legacy. Visiting hours will be 4pm to 8 pm at Shepherd’s Funeral Home, Main St, Carver Thursday. Service will be Friday 11 a.m. at United Parish of Carver, Main St. Carver. Internment 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetary, Fairhaven. Donations in his memory may be made to Carver Firefighter Association Training Fund, 112A Main St. Carver, Mass. or to Post #164 American Legion Scholarship Fund, P.O Box 101, Carver Mass 02330.
