Mary D. Kennedy, 83, of Brockton, formerly of Halifax, died Sunday May 23rd at home surrounded by her family. Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Madden. She was a graduate of St. Margaret’s school of nursing. She served as an RN at several Boston hospitals and retired from St. Joseph’s Manor in Brockton. Mrs. Kennedy was a communicant of the former St. Coleman’s Parish of Brockton, and Our Lady of the Lake in Halifax. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Kennedy, and mother of the late Susan K. Kennedy. She is survived by three sons; Michael J. Kennedy of Halifax, Stephen R. Kennedy of NH, Robert E. Kennedy Jr. of Brockton, and one daughter Maureen Ryan of Brockton, 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Mary is also survived by a sister Jeanne Sawyer of W. Bridgewater. Lovingly cared for by Mark Ryan, Shelley McCauley, Karen Rodrigue, and De Hibbard of Brockton. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 27th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St (Rt. 14) Pembroke. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 28th at Our Lady of the Lake in Halifax at 9:00 AM. Internment will be at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
