Obituary of Ann M. Fitzgibbons

Ann M. Fitzgibbons died on November 6 at her home in Duxbury Mass. The daughter of the late Angeleine and Harold Fitzgibbons, Ann was a graduate of Milton Academy, Bryn Mawr College (AB ’45) and Harvard Graduate School with an MA in Chemistry. She joined her father’s leather businesses in Whitman, Mass. and helped to build them until her retirement in 1968. A long time resident of Duxbury, Ann had been Mass. State Junior Girls golf champion in 1941 and continued to enjoy the game throughout her life. She served as a Director of Rockland Trust Company and its parent, Independent Bank Corp, a Director and Secretary of Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Secretary of the Duxbury Yacht Club and was an active supporter of many community organizations. She was a member of the Chilton Club in Boston and traveled widely until her health declined. Predeceased in August 2009 by her brother Ned, she leaves two brothers, Jim of Brookline, Mass. and Harry of London, England as well as 11 nieces and nephews and many friends and former associates. For many years her home in Duxbury was the site of an annual family reunion gathering. A funeral Mass celebration of her life will take place at Holy Family Church in Duxbury on Saturday, November 14 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers a contribution to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360 would be appreciated.
