Mr. Murphy was a great science teacher and wonderful example to teens during a tumultuous era. He encouraged investigation, innovation and inventiveness in his students. I was so pleased when I'd run into him at the Stop and Shop in later years and we'd have a chat and catch up, as he never lost interest in his students no matter how old we got. My deepest condolences to your family.

Mr. Murphy was one of my favorite teachers. He recognized my potential at a time when few others at DHS did. This meant a great deal to me at a pivotal point in my life. He was a great teacher who will be missed.

A true hero of Duxbury: teacher, coach, leader ... He did it all. Many remember him as their favorite teacher and coach and many others knew Dave as a calm, capable leader -- and "doer" -- for Duxbury's American Legion Post. The town will miss him.
Please accept mine and my family's condolences.

Ruth, Cindy, Carla, Carol, Neil and family, John and I send our condolences on your loss and wish we could be with you at this time. I will always remember the good times Robin and I would have when we got to go to Duxbury to visit the Murphy family. Those were really special times for us. As I now think back to my childhood I remember thinking David was such a cool Dad. I know he will be missed greatly by all of you.

Dear Ruth, Dot and I are sad to learn of Dave's passing. He was a good friend and example, especially to our kids. His humor was wonderful. We remember, and we teased Dave for years, about his asking Alex and Sean if their mother washed their sox in dirt!! The kids LOVED it and couldn't wait to tell Dot. One of many Mr. Murphy stories..
Our thoughts are with you. Take care of yourself.
