Obituary of William R. Monks

William R. (Bill) Monks of Plymouth passed away August 26th , after a long illness at the age of 88. He was the husband of the late Elinore J. Monks. Mr. Monks was a decorated veteran of WW II and served in the Army Air Corps in Italy, Palestine, and Libya, during the North Africa campaign. He was a charter boat captain in Plymouth for many years. He worked as a manager with Air Reduction Corporation for 25 years, and after retirement became the owner of a successful welding supply business in N.C. before a second retirement to his home in Plymouth. His two sons; Weston Monks and his wife Mary Lou of Brewster, MA, and Roger W. Monks and his wife Bernadette of Plymouth, MA survive him. Mr. Monks is also survived by his 6 Grandchildren; Lauren Doucette of Brewster MA., Stacy Beevers-Carter of West Bath , ME, Courtney Giovinazzi of Bath, ME, Alison Collins of Eastham, MA., Mylee Weston Monks of Plymouth, MA and Parker Ally Monks of Plymouth, MA. William is also survived by 14 Great- Grandchildren, and leaves his brother Robert Monks and his wife Betty of Woolwich, ME, and a sister, Virginia Petrell of Plymouth, MA. A private memorial service is planned for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cranberry Hospice at 38 Cordage Park, Suite 326 Plymouth, MA. 02360.
