Cornelius J. Harrington Jr., 85 of Carver passed away peacefully at his home Monday 7/13/09. Mr. Harrington was surrounded by family, and Christine his loving wife of 64 years was by his side. He is survived by his two sons Christopher and Curtis, four grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, Katie, and John, and two great grandchildren Connor and Avery. Mr. Harrington received his degree in engineering at Tufts as an ensign in the United States Navy. He served in both WWII and Korea retiring after 17 years of service as a lieutenant commander. Mr. Harrington was the Executive Superintendent of Maintenance and Garages for the MBTA with whom he worked for 21 years 1957-1978. It was his responsibility for most of those years to keep the City of Boston moving despite terrible weather conditions famously stating: "That just might be your mother waiting somewhere in the cold for a bus!" Friends and family are invited to meet at Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Carver, Monday July 20, no later than 10:00am for the trip to Mr. Harrington's memorial service at MA National Cemetery , Bourne which is scheduled for 11:00am.
