Mr.Burgess was my favorite teacher. I met him 22 years ago when I was in middle school and took his jewelery class at the Quincy Summer program. As a student at North Quincy High I took art with him all four years and helped him after school cut frames for his paintings. In the summers during highschool I was his assistant teacher at the summer program. I stayed in touch with him over the years. He was such an important person in my life when I was young. His gentle sense of humor and easy going way was just what I needed as a teenager. Not too long ago I ran into him at a Walmart. I was with my kids. He gave me a huge hug and was eager to meet my kids. Later my kids told my husband that they had met "mommys most favorite teacher"... and he was. I was deeply sad to learn of his death but honored to have known him.

Audrey,Bob,Martha,Sue...I was sad to hear about Sir Robert's passing. It makes me remember some of the great times we had in the past especially the infamous Knights of the Round Table meetings in the winters in Maine. On the wall of my house I have my favorite watercolor of myself in the old rowboat "Headin for Beale's" which Bob painted and I will cherish it for the rest of my life. Hope all is well with the rest of the family...Love, Brad

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had Mr. Burgess for art in the Renaissance Program at NQHS and I don't think I would've even been able to graduate from high school if it hadn't been for him and his art class. I feel blessed to have had such a wonderful, caring and involved teacher.

Audrey & Family,
Please accept our sympathy. Bob made a great contribution to many young students including our niece Patricia Christello who was his student at NQHS. Bob made one hell of a bottle of wine & we were lucky enough to enjoy it. We have fond memories of going out to eat with Bob and Audrey and seeing Bob at Stop & Shop.
Sincerely,
George & Marie

We are so very sorry. Bob and Audrey were friends and mentors when I was a teenager. They gave me a job at the Studio, trusting me to run the Quincy shop while they were in Provincetown. When Chip and I got married, Bob made our wedding rings and gave them to us as special gifts. We wear those rings today, after 37 years of marriage. May the love of friends and family and your treasured memories bring you comfort.
