John W. Lydon passed away at the South Shore Hospital after a short illness May 1st at the age of 70. He was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (O'Connell) Lydon. Beloved husband of Katherine L. (Whiting) Lydon. Father of Eileen Mary Costello of Braintree, John W. Lydon Jr. of Halifax, Katie G. Lydon of Pembroke, Pamela T. Coste of Plymouth, Patrick J. Lydon of Whitman and Colin F. Lydon of Quincy. Brother of Daniel Lydon of Scituate, Mark Lydon of Plymouth, Margaret Dowd of Scituate, Patricia MacFarland of Marshfield, Steven Lydon of Rockland, and Kevin Lydon of Marshfield. Brother of the late; Joseph, William, Thomas, Michael and Mary Whitlock. Also survived by 10 Grandchildren, and many Nieces & Nephews. Mr. Lydon worked for the Boston Gas Co. for over 43 yrs. retiring in 1999. He was in the US Naval Reserve as a Seabee for over 20 yrs. He was a member of the American Legion in Hanover and an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed seeing both the Red Sox and Patriots win world series in recent years. Very family orientated , he loved his family and Grandchildren and spending time with his friends. He enjoyed spending time at home, feeding his birds and sitting in the sun and golfing. Funeral from Shepherd Funeral Home 7 Mattakeesett St. (Rte 14 Pembroke Center) Pembroke Wed. May 6th at 11am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Hanson at 12pm. Visiting hours will be held Tues. May 5th from 4-8pm. Burial at MA National Cemetery, Bourne MA. Donations can be made to: The American Heart Assoc. 20 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701.
