Obituary of Arthur D. Goff

Arthur D. Goff, 84, of Kingston, died March 7, 2009, at the Jordan Hospital after a lengthy illness. Arthur was born December 11, 1924 in the Hyde Park section of Boston. He graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Army, Rainbow Division, 42nd infantry. He served in Southern France and Germany where his division liberated over 30,000 prisoners at the Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. Arthur was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the French Government for his part in liberating France during World War II. In 1945, he purchased a small farm in Kingston. He was employed by the Plymouth Cordage Company and Cantoni Coal and Oil Company in Plymouth. Arthur is survived by his wife of 59 years, Adeline M. (Freitas) Goff, his three daughters and their families: Deborah J. and Donald Woodbury, Doreen J. and Charles Denson, and Susan A. and Gary Knowlton; his grandchildren, David A. Denson, Jessica L. Munson, Kerri R. Hughes, Maria N. Wilson, Kathryn J. Becker, Allyson E. Denson, Charles W. Denson; seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his brother, Charles E. Goff. Arthur was the brother of the late Frederick Goff, and Irene Peck. Funeral services were celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Friday, March 13th at the Christ Church, 149 Court St., Plymouth.
