Obituary of Alice Farrell Reynolds

Alice Farrell Reynolds died peacefully on January 26, 2009 in Duxbury with her husband, Henry, of 58 years and family by her side. She was born on June 24, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island to George B. Farrell, MD and Elizabeth (Russell) Farrell. She graduated from West Warwick (RI) High School in 1945 and Brown University in 1949. While at Brown, she met Henry P. Reynolds of Wellesley Hills, MA and they married in 1951 in West Warwick, RI. She leaves her husband, sister Patricia F. Black of Narragansett, RI, and four children: Michael H. Reynolds of Clearwater, FL; Mary R. O’Connor and husband James of West Chester, PA; Stephen F. Reynolds and his wife Emily of Barrington, IL and; Anne R. Ward and her husband George of Duxbury, MA. She also leaves ten grandchildren: Allyson, Benjamin, and Patrick Reynolds, Maureen, Flannery and Siobhan O’Connor, Caroline Reynolds, and George, Mary Kate and Jack Ward. She was predeceased by her brother James B. Farrell, MD of Arlington, VA; her sister Mary Elizabeth Hobin of Framingham, MA; grandson Lt. JG Ryan S. O’Connor of the United States Navy; and daughter-in-law Myrna M. Reynolds of Clearwater, FL. She previously resided in Cranston, RI, South Bend, IN, Northbrook, IL, and Woodbridge, CT before moving to Duxbury. She was an active volunteer in the Brown University alumni association, garden club, Junior Great Books and in school libraries while her children were young. She enjoyed many family activities including coast-to-coast and international travel, skiing, boating and swimming, and she anchored a champion mixed bowling team. Calling hours will be held Thursday Jan. 29, 2009 from 6 – 8 pm and Friday Jan. 30, 2009 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St. (Rte 106) Kingston. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Duxbury at 10am on Fri. Jan. 30, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to; the National Stroke Assoc., 9707 East Eastern Lane Bldg. B, Centennial, CO 80112.
