Clorinda Gray Banks, (Lindy) passed away December 14 in Duxbury MA. Lindy was born October 3, 1917 in Lowell, MA where she was raised. She graduated from the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 and worked intermittently at the Lowell General Hospital. Following her marriage to Thomas Edwin Banks in 1940 she resided in Chelmsford, MA where she was active in the Unitarian First Parish Church. Music was a special interest to her, and her church involvement always included singing in the choir. Lindy was very creative, and shared her creativity with others. She taught rug braiding and crewel through adult education classes in the Chelmsford area. She was a masterful seamstress, and she sewed most of the clothing for herself and her daughters. Lindy and family moved to Duxbury in 1967 and became active with the Unitarian Universalist First Parish Church of Duxbury. She always enjoyed playing bridge, but during her years in Duxbury, she became an expert player. She took classes in duplicate bridge, which led to teaching bridge classes and running bridge games in the Duxbury area. The American Bridge League granted her a Bronze Life Master Certificate in 1997. She continued to play bridge until only a few weeks before her death. Lindy was preceded in death by her husband Thomas. She leaves many wonderful memories with her three daughters and their families, Phyllis Cassel and her husband Richard of Palo Alto, CA, Cynthia Blake and her husband John of Litchfield, NH, and Elizabeth Banks of Davis, CA. Eight grandchildren were touched by her generous spirit, Todd Terrien of Pembroke, NH, Amy Manganais of Raymond, NH, Brett Terrien of Boston, Christine Beauchessne of Chelmsford, and Patricia Leger of Lawrence, also Christopher Cassel of Somerville, Diana Eppstein of Irvine CA, and Charles Cassel of Santa Clara, CA, plus 8 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Lindy’s life at 11 AM, Saturday, January 3, at the First Parish Church in Duxbury MA. A grave side service will be held at 11 AM, January 2, at the Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Parish Church of Duxbury or to a charity of choice.
