Clara Frances "Kit" Clapp of Duxbury Dec. 4, 2008, age 97, passed away peacefully in her home.Born Dorchester, June 28, 1911. Preceeded in death by parents Frederick Gardner & Helen Drew Ripley Clapp, also of Dorchester, siblings Edward Gardner & Priscilla Clapp. Survived by sister-in-law Stella Margaret Williams Clapp of Dallas, newphew Fred W. Clapp and wife Pam of Alexandria Virginia, niece Susan Helen Clapp Lewis and husband Rick of Dallas, their families, and many beloved cousins, including Marjorie Bishop, Cherry Bishop, Ben Bishop, Helen Vickers, Clara Nickerson, and many friends of all ages. Kit grew up in Bronxville, NY, summered in Duxbury at the family home, retired to Duxbury 1977. Graduated from Am. High School in Paris, France in 1928 & Wellesley College in 1934. Navy Lt. Com. WWII, accountant Andrew Carnegie Found., traveled extensively beginning age 3 to China, visiting approx. 40 countries. Current Board Member & former Secretary of The Alden Kindred; Docent for many years at Pilgrim Hall, King Ceasar House, and Duxbury Art Complex; active in Duxbury Rural & Historical Society on Archives Committee, Duxbury Garden Club as a "Horticultural Specialist", two Reading Groups, EXNAVOS; member Dorchester Historical Society, 1st Parish Church. Kit was an avid reader, known for her keen mind and knowledge & love of flowers and birds. Donations may be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Pk. Cr., # 326, Plymouth, MA 02360, or above listed organizations. Memorial service at a later time. Interment in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, MA.
