Obituary of Agnes C. Maurer

Agnes (Nan) C. Maurer entered eternal life on November 14, 2008 after a long life. The daughter of John Lyon and Agnes Carmichael of Scotland, Nan was born in Waltham, MA on January 14, 1918. A graduate of Waltham High, she married W. Chadwick Maurer. Long time residents of Kingston, they raised four sons: Donald L. Maurer, Troy, NY; the late W. Chadwick Maurer Jr., Winchester, MA; Richard D. Maurer, Villa Rica, GA and John Gregory Maurer, Kingston, MA. In addition to her sons, Nan is survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She held a variety of jobs; a model, bookkeeper, home health aide, a matron at SLRHS, and a witch during the Edaville Railroad Halloween Festival. Nan was also a homemaker, who enjoyed being outdoors and spent 25 years being a "snowbird" visiting family and friends in the Florida Keys. Perhaps her favorite role was being "Nana" to her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Halifax. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21 at St. David's at 10:45 A.M. She will be interred along side her husband in the National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her name to St. David's Episcopal Church, 480 South Street, Halifax, MA 02338.
