Obituary of Matthew J. Frates

Matthew J. “Butch” Frates, 56, of Carver, formerly of South Dartmouth, died Aug. 19 at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham, after a long battle with cancer. Born in New Bedford on Jan. 29, 1952, he is the son of Dorothy G. (Leonardo) Frates of Carver and the late Albert A. Frates. He is survived by his daughter, Reagan Demers of New Bedford, his sister, Heidi Reid of Fairhaven, three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Albert A. Frates, Jr. Visiting hours will be held on Sat. Aug.23 at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Rt. 58, Carver from 10:00-11:00AM, followed by a Graveside Service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Plympton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 W. Chestnut St., Brockton, MA 02301
