Walter E. Briscoe of Duxbury, and formerly of Weymouth died on August 17, 2008. He was 85 years old. Mr. Briscoe is one of 13 children and was born, raised, and educated in Randolph. He is a graduate of Randolph High School. Following his graduation from high school Mr. Briscoe enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany during World War II. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he went on to work as a manager at the Rennie Curtain factory in Boston. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Briscoe was a very active member of the Weymouth Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved to travel, and enjoyed the outdoors. He also loved to spend time with his family.
Loving husband of Marilyn Briscoe. Father of Eric Briscoe and his wife Diane of Abington, Leslie Clarke and her husband Jonathan of Duxbury, and the late Lynne Wisneski and her husband Frank of Duxbury. Brother of Mabel Briscoe of Abington, Betty Theriault of Stoughton, Beverly Robinson of Berklee, Loretta Pinnetti of Easton, and the late Ruth Corrigan, Pauline Moody, Roger Briscoe, Alton Briscoe, Harriett Smith, Eileen Stevens, Kenneth Briscoe, and Gail Briscoe. Grandfather of 10, and great grandfather of 7. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on August 25, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Weymouth, 40 West St at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the Village Cemetery in Weymouth.
