Edith Cavell Surette, of Plymouth, and formerly of Plympton died on July 23, 2008. Edith was born on September 15, 1917 in Waltham, MA. She was named after a World War I British Army Nurse who assisted hundreds of soldiers from the allied forces in England. Edith’s life was spent helping others as well. She befriended, and assisted less fortunate elderly people who didn’t have families of their own. Edith spent many years working at Filenes in Braintree and Hyannis. Edith was married to the late Walter Surette from Haverhill. She is survived by her two daughters; Donna Babineau and her husband Dan, and Paula Surette and her husband Bill Butler. Grandmother of David Geloran and his wife Trudy, Lisa Giampapa and her husband Jay, Jennifer Alabiso, Jessica McDermott and her husband Jeff, and 7 great grandchildren Samantha, and Andrea Giampapa, Grayson and Liam Alabiso-Cahill, and Jake, Eva, and Gavin McDermott. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church in Plymouth on Wednesday, July 30th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers20donations maybe made to Christ Church, 149 Court St, Plymouth, MA 02360.
