Marilyn A. Basler of Kingston died on May 11, 2008. She was 69 years old. Mrs. Basler is the Daughter of Florence T (Grafton) Lyons, and the late Thomas H. Miller. She was born and raised in S. Boston, and graduated from Gate of Heaven High School in 1956. She was the past President of the Laboure Mothers Club in S. Boston. She moved to Kingston in 1970. She taught CCD at St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston. Former Girl Scout Leader for troop 310 for 10 years. Former Chairman of Kingston School Committee, and a member of Union 30 of Silver Lake Regional School Committee. She also helped to organize the PTA. She owned and operated Mainly Miniatures Dollhouse Shop in Kingston. Member of the Kingston Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, gambling, arts and crafts, baby-sitting, home decorating, and do-it-yourself projects. Loving Mother of David J. Basler Jr. and his Wife Cyd Melcher of Palmer, Marianne Holden of Holyoke, Ellen M. Hardy and her Husband Chris of Plymouth, Paul F. Basler of Kingston, James A. Basler and his Wife Cheryl of Foxboro, and Janet M. Basler of Plymouth. Sister of Thomas Miller and his Wife Marilynn of Canton, Edward Miller and his Wife Elaine of Abington, William Miller and his Wife Nancy of Needham, Michael Miller of Jersey City, NJ, and the late Richard Miller of S. Boston. Cherished Grandmother of 14. Best friend of over 50 years to Geraldine Quieto of Weymouth. Also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 14th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 272 Main St, Kingston. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Marilyn A. Basler Memorial Fund @ Rockland Trust, 184 Summer St, Kingston, MA 02364.
