Donald David Woodard ,April 8, 2008. Donald was the beloved husband of Mildred I. (Ash) Woodard for 56 years. Beloved father of Diane Woodard, Donna (Woodard) Hanson and her husband Richard. Grandfather of Garth Tobin and his wife Tricia, Great Grandfather of; Kyle and Alexandra Tobin. Also survived by his twin brother Daniel E. Woodard and his wife Patricia of VT, Norman Woodard of IN, Sisters Sarah Winchester of NH, Bessie Tirrell of Harwich, and Nancy Bacon of VT. And Many Nieces & Nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Woodbridge and J. Edward “Red” Woodard. Born in Brockton to Horace C. Woodard and Hannah H. (Whittmore) on June 7, 1930. He was raised in Brockton then moved to Elmwood MA until his young adulthood. He attended Bristol Agricultural School in Dighton. A US Coast Guard Veteran serving during the Korean War and as a Veteran served on Hitlf Way Rock Lighthouse in ME as a lighthouse keeper. Carpentry was his livelihood; building luxury homes on Cape Cod with Perralut Contractors. Later in life he did fine cabinetry, custom pieces of furniture and finish work. He built the family home in Pembroke in 1959 where he lived with his family for the rest of his life. Upon retirement he worked with his brother “Red” in E. Bridgewater. He was interested in gardening, bird watching, the seashore and quiet walks with his wife, mountains, plants, flowers and creatures of the natural world. He and Mildred enjoyed taking frequent short trips to historical destinations. He loved his family and his yearly camping trips with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to the Berkshires, Cape Cod and other spots. He will be dearly missed. Calling hours will be Fri. April 11,2008 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at Shepherd Funeral Home 7 Mattakeesett St. (Rte 14) Pembroke Center. A service will be held on Sat. April 12,2008 at 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Donations can be made to: The American Heart Assoc. 20 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701-4680.
