Obituary of Karl R. Krueger

Karl R. Krueger, Jr. passed on March 31, 2008 after a three-year battle with single cell sarcoma. Karl was 75 years old, and was born at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth on January 31, 1933. Karl was a lifelong Kingston resident attending Kingston schools and graduating from Kingston high School in 1950. Following high school Karl joined the Navy and spent four years traveling the world onboard Navy ships. Karl’s work career started following his service in the Navy with a four-year apprenticeship program at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy in 1955. After leaving the shipyard he began a career with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in 1963 where he was a member of the original team of two-man submarine project ALVIN. After leaving Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute he returned to shipbuilding at General Dynamics working his way to the position of Shipbuilding planner. Karl finished his career with General Dynamics after the close of the shipyard following thirty-eight years of service. Karl is survived by his wife Beulah P. (Atkinson) Krueger, his Daughter Sharon L. (Krueger) Carlson and husband Edward T. Carlson of San Diego, CA. His Son Karl R. Krueger III of Boston, son in law David DeCost of Chepachet, RI. His Sisters Ingrid Holman and Sheila Eufrazio. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Timothy Scott Brock, Katy Miranda Brock, Nicholas David Brock, David Joseph DeCost, and Grace Elizabeth DeCost. He was preceded in death by his Daughter Karlin (Krueger) DeCost who passed in November 2007. A Strong love of nature and the outdoors found a perfect union 52 years ago when Karl and Beulah joined in marriage. Karl adopted Beulah’s birthplace in Aroostook County as his own and spent countless hours in the woods of Aroostook County hunting and fishing. A memorial service to celebrate Karl’s life will be held on Thursday April 3rd at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church, 384 Court St, N. Plymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy (Lower Penobscot Forest Project) Maine Field Office, 14 Maine St, Suite 401, Brunswick, ME 04011, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 384 Court St, N. Plymouth, MA 02360, or Cranberry Area hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
