Charles E. Hamilton one of the oldest elected officials in MA, of Carver, died Feb. 17 at Radius Health Care Center in Plymouth. He was 96. Born on Aug. 12, 1911 in Revere, MA, he was the son of Charles A. and Gladys (Cracknell) Hamilton. He graduated from Everett High School, Concord Commercial College in NH, and Northeastern University: Lincoln College Aviation Technology. He served in the US Air Force during WWII as a flight officer and pilot, Air Transport Command in Alaska and North Africa. He was a flight school Director at Wiggins Airways, Northeastern University Lincoln College, and a course consultant at Aviation Technology Program. He was also co-founder of the Aviation Careers Institute in Norwood, MA. He served as an elected town meeting member in the towns of Norwood and Plymouth. He was appointed to the Finance Board, Board of Assessors and the Mobile Home Study Committee in Carver. He was elected many times to the Carver Board of Assessors also serving as Chairman. He was also elected last year to serve another 3 year term. He was past president of the Mobile Home Federation of MA and a member of the legislative committee, chairman of the finance committee and one of the original members of the Board of Directors of the South Meadow Village Mobile Homes in Carver. He was the husband of the late Mary (Parsons) Hamilton. He is survived by his daughter; Sylvia Best of Carver. Memorial Visiting Hours will be held on Sat. Feb. 23 at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Rt. 58, Carver from 10:00AM-12:00 noon. Interment will be immediately following in Central Cemetery, Carver.
